Greetings to all visitors, whether ye be friend or stranger.
As I trade my Saturday afternoons on tennis courts for contemplative (and festive) strolls about town, bundled as warmly as possible, I am always reminded why the winter holiday season is one of my favorite times of year (in spite of the cold!). For all the stillness in the landscape, there just seems to be a little added excitement among the crowds. The skies grow darker, sooner, but more lit and decorated, too. It is a striking contrast that speaks to me of simple joys.
My fiancee and I recently visited a Renaissance Fair - my first ever experience. Much of the art and glasswork was simply stunning, and I am somewhat amazed I did not walk out of there with bags and bags of goodies and an over-taxed credit card. I got to see some jousting, fire-juggling, and dancing; and, of course, I got to eat an oversized roast turkey leg. The highlight of the day, though, was my fiancee dressed as a princess and carrying a Toothless Build-A-Bear plush in a basket, which turned us into minor celebrities. We could not go more than ten minutes without someone complimenting us or trying to steal a quick pet (of the dragon). I am looking forward to seeing what else the season has in store.
And, of course, I hope you are finding success and happiness in all of your endeavors.
